NUPRC delineated the Kuri field (PPL 222) concession as part of the 2020 Marginal Field Bid Round (MFBR 2020). The field is situated on the eastern boundary of OML 49 within the swamp terrain of the Niger Delta Basin, with CHEVRON acting as the farmor.
Kuri Field spans an area of 78.56 km² and is located approximately 25 km southwest of Sapele town in Delta State. The field was initially discovered in 1991 by drilling the Kuri-01 well to a total measured depth of 12,692 feet. Further appraisal was conducted in 2024 with the drilling of the Kuri-02 well, which confirmed both the extent of the previously identified hydrocarbon accumulation and the presence of additional hydrocarbon-bearing sands within a similar structural setting. Current development activities after well was tested is focused on achieving first oil production and facilitating crude evacuation to the nearest export terminal. The projected commencement of field operations is targeted for Q4 2024.
